Equipment for Polymer Flooding
Function
SNF manufactures dissolving and injection equipment for EOR projects. In the case of pilot projects requiring small quantities of polymer, the equipment is assembled in the factory on a skid and then delivered to the site. For pilot projects requiring larger quantities of polymer, the equipment is typically sent separately and then assembled on site.
To ensure proper injection, it is important for the polymer to be dissolved properly, for the equipment to be compatible with the polymer and for the solution to be injected on a continuous basis. Because of this,
SNF has developed specific systems for dissolving powder (FLOQUIP WU) and emulsions (FLOQUIP DE).
The equipment
Floquip Drag Reduction
Equipment can be designed and manufactured for specific field conditions.
Chemical pump (DR injection pump)
Small progressive cavity pumps are usually used for their easy maintenance and low shear. These pumps are optimized for injection pressure and flow rate.
Floquip – DE
Floquip DE is a stand-alone polymer make down system designed to dilute and activate emulsion polymers. It consists of a progressive cavity pump, a water flow regulation system, a dynamic and a static mixer and an electrical control panel.
The neat emulsion polymer is pumped from the container and injected into the suction side of a stainless steel dynamic mixer to initiate the inversion of the emulsion. A second water adjunction and a static mixer post-dilute the polymer solution.
Interior with electrical room, with control screen.
Operations are carefully monitored from this unit, with times, flow rates, levels and pressure being measured and adjusted as necessary. The unit may fully automated and include a supervision system. (DCS).
FLOQUIP WU system,
With the FLOQUIP WU system, polymer is dispersed in the water and pumped directly to the maturing tanks, which are always sufficiently large to hold it long enough for complete hydration of the polymer to take place.
FLOQUIP DE system
The FLOQUIP DE system is used to invert the polymer emulsion completely and instantaneously, and dilute it to the required concentration in line without sending it to the maturing tanks. All parts in contact with the polymer are made in stainless steel to prevent the solution from being contaminated by iron. Lines, pumps and other pieces of equipment are designed to minimize shear degradation of the polymer prior to injection.
Maturing tanks
Solutions have to be matured to ensure that the polymer is completely hydrated. Maturing tanks and mixers are specially designed for each pilot project to provide the right injection rate.
Manifold and injection lines.
The number of injection lines and high-pressure pumps varies from one project to another, depending on the specifications drawn up by the client. The final flow rate and concentration of the polymer solutions are regulated by the control unit.
Injection unit
Each injection unit is designed on the basis of criteria defined by the client. These include flow rate, pressure, number of injection wells, environment (offshore, onshore, continental or tropical climate, automation, etc.). Many safety devices are incorporated, such as filters, maximum pressure detectors and level gauges, etc., to ensure reliable, uninterrupted operation.
Polymer slicing unit
The Polymer Slicing Unit is used to dissolve powder polymer in huge quantity (300 kilo per hour). Saving time by reduction of dissolution stage is the main characteristic of this equipment.
Easy to set up
SNF has a data form so that the operator can provide the data needed for a preliminary study of facilities required for a field project. This list can be provided on request.
